Emily Senturia

Conductor & Coach

Drawing from her diverse experience as a violinist, conductor, and coach, San Francisco Bay Area native Emily Senturia approaches operatic repertoire with a sympathetic affinity for both singers and instrumentalists.

In 2019, Ms. Senturia conducts La traviata with Hawaii Opera Theatre, Ariadne auf Naxos with Wolf Trap Opera, and Fellow Travelers with Boston Lyric Opera. She will be the music director for Denis & Katya, a world premiere at Opera Philadelphia's O19 Festival, and assists Le nozze di Figaro at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  


Ms. Senturia made mainstage conducting debuts with Houston Grand Opera and Washington National Opera in 2018, both with Il barbiere di Siviglia. In past seasons as a member of HGO’s music staff, she conducted performances of L'elisir d'amore, The Little Prince, and The Magic Flute. She has recently been on the music staff at The Atlanta Opera (Sweeney Todd) and Opera Philadelphia (Sky on SwingsElizabeth Cree, War Stories).

Ms. Senturia, a 2018 participant in the Hart Institute for Women Conductors at The Dallas Opera, studied opera at the Houston Grand Opera Studio, Wolf Trap, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Royal Academy of Music. She studied orchestral conducting at Indiana University and Boston University, and violin at Rice University.
